“Prior to the construction we did a noise audit of the surrounding area because
we are in a high density residential area. There are condominiums within 300’
of the UNOX aeration tank. The condos are in excess of 200,000$ each. We are
in a high scale residential area. The plant has not affected them. We have not
had complaints about either odors or noise. Now, one other thing I would like
to stress is the PSA system is also housed in a building. There is no noise
from the PSA at all. We bring in school groups anywhere from the high school
to college level. They are quite surprised at the lack of odors from the UNOX
system.:

Everyday Operations :
“We have shift coverage of 16 hours a day, that is roughly from eight in the
morning to approximately midnight. What we end up doing on an off shift is covering
with maybe 2 or 3 operators. The UNOX system is quite reliable. We have a common
alarm system for the plant with beepers to call back people on an emergency
basis. We are down to eleven employees now. With that we are able to cover the
treatment plant and the nine pumping stations in the collection system. We have
in excess of 150 miles of sewer lines in the system.”
